Dynamic Effort

Random question I've received on DE training, the question simplified, are we going against the
SAID principle with DE training, I've been told there's two ways to increase motor unit recruitment
and if you want to increase force velocity you need to train at both ends of the curve.

My answer is basically DE work is a waste of time, not all will agree with this, but in my opinion, if you want to increase your maximal bench press you should train with maximal loads and attempt to lift the bar as fast as possible. The SAID principle is very simple, basically your practise should be as close as possible to the performance you're trying to improve. Lifting 50% loads as fast as possible is entirely different to lifting 90% or greater loads as fast as possible. Lifting 50% loads as fast as possible trains you to lift 50% loads faster. Lifting 90% loads as fast as possible trains you to lift 90% loads as fast as possible. Most people don't understand that your body adapts very specifically to the training you perform.
